Max and I are THRILLED to announce that we are expecting! We are completely happy and so excited. We had our first appointment on February 24th where we were able to see the heartbeat and find out our due date: September 19, 2010! (Pictures are included below) The first appointment was filled with lots of information and tests, but the absolute best part was the moment the picture focused on our baby and we could see the heart beating. It really was a magical moment...
We had our second appointment this morning and actually got to hear the heart beat. It really is such a sweet sound. I am also very fascinated with this whole process. At our first appointment there was so much equipment and today they put us in a room with barely any equipment and the mid-wife came in with a little hand held device (thanks to mom I now know it's a "Doppler"). The device had an ultra sound 'stick' on it and she ran it over a section of my stomach and we could hear the beat! Amazing.
Baby's First Measurements at 10 weeks 3 days and 3.45cm
The side view of the baby:) I think it's so cute how it's just all curled up. He/she is stretching and much larger now!
No pictures from today's visit, but in 6 weeks we get to find out the gender! I don't have a feeling of what it is; a boy or girl. Sometimes I picture a boy, sometimes I picture a girl. I was sorta hoping my dreams would help me out and one night I had a dream it was a boy. I woke up and fell back asleep and had the same dream over and it was a girl. Haha! So much for a little dream help! Another funny thing is at our first appointment we were in the waiting room and this girl who was pretty pregnant asked how far along I was. I really didn't know and told her my guess. She said "isn't it amazing how you just KNOW?!". I didn't know what to say to her because I DIDN'T know I was pregnant. Max is actually the one who realized it. I could justify all of my symptoms and he seemed to pick up on something else so he encouraged me to take a pregnancy test. I've seen enough negatives I thought I would wait a few weeks, but the next morning I took a test and sure enough: POSITIVE!! YAY!!!!
According to my "What to Expect" app I am 14 weeks and 4 days today! I have had a really great pregnancy so far; no real sickness, no throwing up, no crazy outbreaks. I do get tired and I have been very short of breath, but that is about it. Overall we are just very happy!

you have such a cute little baby bump! That is so exciting! It is such a magical time. When I was pregnant with Naomi I had a very vivid dream, a little brunette boy walked up to me holding a bible. He said "look mom it's my name" and he was pointing to a page. I looked down and it was the story of Daniel in the lions den. I was so certain we were having a boy and that his name would be Daniel, I just knew it! Ryan said he was certain it was girl and he HATED the name Daniel. So there goes that! Naomi came and buy the time Kellan came around I had given up on the whole Daniel thing :P
I hope you have fun looking for a name and imagining what the gender will be. Keep us all updated!
Yeah!!! Congratulations!! We are so happy for you two! You will be a wonderful mother! Yeah, I am so excited for you!
Yippee!! This is such an exciting time for you! Enjoy every moments!! Love you bunches!
I just LOVE your tiny little bump! And yes, you are STILL a STICK, just in case you were feeling big ;-) I am just over the moon about you being pregnant! I am so bummed you won't be in Seattle, so we could have a HUGE shower for you! I can't wait to see your little one wrapped in the giraffe blanket we bought together, I wrapped Oscar up in mine the other night and thought of you!
Are you going to have the baby with a midwife then? I'm glad you are feeling good! And don't worry about not knowing you were pregnant, my SIL didn't know for 4 months! And I am the one who told her to take a test and I was on the other side of the country from her! She is still one of the best mom's I know!
Congratulations! Boys and girls are great... I knew with my second- that he was going to be a boy but with the first I had no idea. Phil was convinced she was a girl- but I still brought two outfits to the hospital! What a wonderful adventure for you guys- keep us posted!
